I learned wood working from my friend and mentor Lawrence Killingsworth. Years of working in his shop “Shoeshone Woodcraft”, I was able to absorb his lifetime experiences working with wood. I don’t think I would have discovered my love of working with wood without knowing him. Thanks Lawrence!
I like doing all kinds of projects including furniture, boxes and turnings. But my favorite tool is the lathe. I started out using carbide tools but happened to see a video of Ashley Harwood turning her sea urchin ornaments and it inspired me to learn to use traditional tools.
My lathe is the Powermatic 3520b, quite the step up from my first lathe a Jet 1221VS which served me well. But now I can turn much larger pieces.
